In 2002, Pedro and Nicole Carta traveled to Dar es Salaam Tanzania to volunteer at the Boona-Baana Center for Children’s Rights, now one of World Action for Humanity’s partner projects. After immersing themselves in two weeks of renovation work on what would become the Green Door Home, and experiencing first-hand how the project was helping children orphaned by the AIDS epidemic, Pedro and Nicole decided to find a way to support the program.
They quickly acted on the idea, and a year later, World Action for Humanity was born with the goal of creating a network of individuals from around the world to support grassroots efforts in developing countries.
World Action is a great example of what can happen if individuals join together to take action. To date, individual donors who have taken up World Action’s call and joined the movement have helped raise more than $100,000 to support 170 children at its two partner projects. Even more importantly, World Action is an all-volunteer effort supported by generous individual donations; 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to its partner projects. |
